The new 20 OF 2020 Awards event that will honor 20 business people in Washington State for their exceptional actions in the face of COVID-19 has been rescheduled for early February, 2021. The original date was Nov. 11, so that means you have an extra three months to identify a hero of the pandemic and nominate that individual on the form below.

The awards are being spearheaded by Mike Flynn, who created a number of business-recognition events during his tenure as publisher of the Puget Sound Business Journal. Other sponsors of the event include Tower Club GM Michael Anderson, Biz X CEO Bob Bagga and Katrina Eileen of Katrina Eileen Real Estate.

Flynn said, “Unlike annual awards events, such as the 100 Fastest Growing Companies or 40 Under 40, we hope this recognition for dealing with the pandemic is a one-year event.” He added that the sponsors were concerned about reports of a possible uptick in COVID-19 in November and also wanted to consider the remaining months of 2020 in choosing the honorees.

The Columbia Tower Club will host the event, where the honorees will be recognized. However, a virtual event will be held if the pandemic prevents an actual gathering.

A print publication, titled Honorees, displaying the photos and resumes of the 20 honorees will be distributed at the event and at participating companies. The publication also will be reproduced in digital form for posting online.

Nominees must be the owner or an employee of a business registered in Washington state in 2020. The criteria for selection are that they: 1) Took exceptional actions to sustain their company during COVID-19; and/or 2) Took exceptional actions in support of their community during COVID-19.
