Who said people don’t care about awards any more?

A record 1,062 entries were received this year for the 58th Annual Northwest Emmy Awards, recognizing outstanding work in regional television. That compares with about 1,000 entries last year, before the pandemic hit.

Loretta Bevins, long-time manager (with daughter, Diane, the NATAS chapter administrator) of the gala annual event, said, “We didn’t expect to get that many entries during the pandemic, but there are a lot of new entrants in the individual categories. As I’m sure you’ve noticed when watching the programming, lots of people have left, and there are lots of new people in their place.”

Loretta said that nominations most likely will be virtual again this year, but that will be announced April 9. Whether the awards ceremony will be virtual or in-person has not yet been determined, but the date is still June 5.

NATAS is still accepting nominations for the for Citation for Outstanding Community Engagemment and the Silver and Gold Circle awards.  See www.natasnw.org for details.
