Philips Publishing Group has entered into agreements with the cities of Monroe and SeaTac to publish quarterly, four-color glossy magazines aimed at communicating with residents, engaging visitors and promoting economic development.

Choose Monroe is a collaborative partnership between the city of Monroe and Philips Publishing Group. The publication is intended to  help the city better engage with the new residents and visitors who are moving north to escape the congestion and high prices of the mid-sound region.

Choose Monroe Magazine hit the streets earlier this year, and the first issue immediately gained recognition with the marcomm community by winning a Bronze M award for custom publishing at the 2018 MARKETING Awards EVENT in late May.

The City of SeaTac hired Philips earlier this year to take over publication of its quarterly Seatac Magazine. Philips will handle all design, production and delivery of the magazine,  and the city will retain editorial control and ownership of the publication. In addition to upgrading the publication from a newsletter to a four-color glossy magazine format, Philips is soliciting advertising to underwrite the costs of production.

Both new magazines join Philips’ growing portfolio of custom-publishing projects for a dozen other suburban Washington cities from Sedro-Woolley to Lakewood.

Philips also publishes Foghorn for the Passenger Vessel Association, and visitor publications for Black Ball Ferry Lines and Clipper Navigation, as well as California’s Catalina Express, Georgia’s Savannah Riverboat Co., and Massachusetts-based Hy-Line Cruises.

Founded in 1974 by Richard Philips, Philips Publishing owns and publishes Fishermen’s News for the commercial fishing industry and Pacific Maritime Magazine for the marine transportation industry.  A second-generation family publishing company, Philips Publishing Group is based in Seattle’s Fishermen’s Terminal neighborhood.
